1. Scope and responsible person
This policy applies to the EngineDesk: Marine Engineer Android application. The developer and privacy contact is Aydın Saygın.
2. Offline operation and data collection
EngineDesk is designed to work offline. The application does not transmit data to a developer server, use advertising or analytics services, or track users. The application does not request Internet access permission. The developer cannot view or retrieve data entered in the application from outside the device.
3. Information processed on the device
Depending on the user's choices, vessel and machinery information, fuel and oil records, maintenance jobs, tests, checklist records, bunker operations, calculation results, personal notes, Chief Engineer contact details and crew information may be stored on the device. Crew information may include name, rank, competency, nationality, sign-on/sign-off and contract details, and evaluation records.
4. Password, encryption and biometrics
Chief Engineer-only crew notes and evaluation records are stored in encrypted form on the device. The password is not stored as readable text. Biometric authentication is performed through Android's secure system interface; EngineDesk does not receive or store fingerprints, facial images or biometric templates. Biometric access is optional and depends on device settings.
5. Export, sharing and backups
PDF, Excel, printing, sharing and full-backup operations are initiated only by the user. When the user sends a file to e-mail, messaging, cloud storage, a printer or another application, the file becomes subject to the privacy terms of the selected service. Exported reports and backups may contain operational or personal information; the user is responsible for storing them securely and sharing them only with authorized persons.
6. Retention and deletion
Data remains on the device until the user deletes the relevant record, completes the two-step Reset data operation, or uninstalls the application. Because the developer has no access to this data, it cannot be deleted remotely. Files previously exported or backed up by the user must be deleted separately.
7. Children's privacy
EngineDesk is intended for maritime professionals and is not directed to children. The application does not knowingly collect personal data from children.
8. Policy changes and contact
If the application's data-handling features change, this policy will be updated and a new effective date will be published. Privacy questions or requests may be sent to [email protected].
